Personal growth and success are independent of each other and both are necessary. However, personal growth almost always ends up taking the backseat.

You can experience success without growing even a little bit.

On the other hand, you could be growing everyday but may not see that growth converting into any tangible success in that moment.

Success & achievement are important to a certain extent but they can be hollow if there is no growth or progress happening in you alongside.

For example – Mr. A is great salesman and is experiencing constant successful client conversions. But he is just doing sales everyday and isn’t able to think beyond being a salesman. After some time when other salesmen around him start moving to higher levels he would start feeling the pinch. As he hasn’t grown his skills beyond salesman, he is not being promoted to next level where he can manage other salesmen.

– Can he be happy being a salesman forever?

– For how long would he be able to compete with other younger salesmen?

So, what does he need to do? He needs to bring growth to front seat in his life, right next to success.

What do you need to do, so that you remember to grow at an individual level while succeeding professionally or financially?

You need to start celebrating personal growth the same way you celebrate your successes!

How can you do that?

It’s a 3-step process –

1st step – Recognise personal growth –

  • Make note in your diary every year – same day of the year –

  • What all areas of life have you grown in over last year?

2nd step – Ask yourself –

  • In what ways that growth can enable your personal or professional life?

  • How does that change your way of looking at life and yourself?

  • Above all, how does all this affect your experience of life?

3rd step – Reward yourself –

  • Celebrate your personal growth journey by rewarding yourself

  • You can gift yourself a coffee, an hour’s break from work, a day at spa… there are many other ways you can do that.

Doing these steps just 2-3 times will change the pathways in your brain. Slowly taking you to a place where you will be able to give equal importance to both success and growth. And continual growth will become a permanent fixture of your life.

Once you are able to put personal growth in front seat it will increase your overall satisfaction from life. Along with that, it will also underpin your efforts towards achieving success in life by removing the invisible subconscious hurdles.
